On the evening of Friday 12th April, Newcastle’s Millennium Bridge took on a new persona as it glowed in the colors of the Palestinian flag — a symbolic gesture of solidarity during a vigil held by the Friends of Al-Aqsa. As the sun set, the bridge was washed in a striking display of green and red lights, drawing a crowd that stood in quiet reflection of the hardships and resilience of the Palestinian community.
The vigil was attended by people from all walks of life, reflecting on global injustices and lending voices to the call of peace and fairness. The Millennium Bridge being lit up in this way is a stark reminder of the suffering felt not only in Gaza, but in many places across the world.
